In 2025
Insights from 2024
Utilizing existing knowledge
We noticed that a great deal of knowledge is already available among farmers and sports clubs, for example. In that case, it is more valuable to share existing knowledge rather than trying to add new knowledge.
Collaborating with other municipalities
Many municipalities are working on the same challenges. What works in one municipality may not work in another. However, it is good to make use of each other's experience and knowledge. This will enable us to achieve our insulation targets more quickly at regional level. We therefore want to seek more cooperation with other municipalities. In doing so, we must ensure that we are closely aligned with local demand.
Working in specialized subgroups
By working on specific goals with subgroups, we can gain a deeper understanding of the content. We have found that this works very well in practice.
Meeting local needs
Some solutions do not work the same way for all municipalities. We offered entrepreneurs a standard package, but we noticed that this package did not properly meet the needs of our entrepreneurs. We have learned from this.
Pooling individual strengths
There are many motivated residents who have ideas. We need to connect residents with each other so that they can inspire and help each other.

New team members
In 2025, the sustainability team will welcome several new members. These include a new team manager, a new communications advisor specializing in sustainability, and a new colleague for the heat transition.
Energy transition
In 2025, we will continue to focus on the energy transition with the insulation subsidy, energy coaches, and the energy desk.
Climate adaptation and biodiversity
Greening will continue to be an important theme in 2025. For example, we are working with the housing association to remove stones and green Steenstraat in Boven-Leeuwen (the street name will remain the same), and there is the 'Stones out, plants in' campaign. In this campaign, residents hand in stones and receive free plants in return. We are also installing bat boxes in our own buildings and at residents' homes.
Circular economy
Together with fellow municipalities, we are exploring the possibilities for setting up a circular economy. In 2025, we will be talking to residents and organizations about ways in which we can promote the circular economy. We will be receiving support from students taking the minor in circular economy. We are also actively contributing ideas to the design of Avri's circular craft center in Tiel.
Own organization
We set goals to make our own purchasing more sustainable and try to make employees, residents, and businesses aware of their own behavior and influence. In 2025, we will once again participate in Climate Week and map our carbon footprint.
Communication and participation
We will involve our residents even more actively and focus on local needs. We will communicate more actively and increase our visibility.
