Help for parents and children affected by the child care subsidy issues

This is an old post.

Have you, as a parent or child, been affected by the issues with the childcare allowance? If so, you can get help through your local municipality. This is called comprehensive support. This assistance is designed specifically for you and your family. Below, we explain exactly what comprehensive support entails and how we can work together to ensure that the assistance meets your specific needs.

What is broad support?

Comprehensive support helps you, as an affected parent or child, make a fresh start. This can take many forms, such as:

  • Healthcare
  • Family and Parenting
  • Work and Income
  • Finance and Housing

We’ll discuss exactly what you need during a personal consultation. Together, we’ll identify where you could use some help and ensure that you receive personalized support.

Examples of broad support:

  • Financial Assistance
Are you having trouble managing your finances, or do you not know where to start? We can help you get everything in order and gain a clear overview.
  • Someone who’s there to help you figure things out
Is there something on your mind? Do you need help improving your home situation, finding a job, or arranging care? We’ll work with you to find the right solutions and point you in the right direction. This could be for you, your child, or the whole family.
  • Help with household chores
Perhaps you were unable to have maintenance work done on your home due to these issues. You can discuss this with the municipality as well.

What is not covered by comprehensive support?

The municipality only provides the assistance necessary to help you get a fresh start. It is not intended, for example, to reimburse the cost of an entire household’s contents. In exceptional circumstances, additional assistance may be provided, but this is not a standard entitlement.

Policy Guidelines

In 2025, a national advisory committee recommended standardizing broad support across all municipalities. This provides more clarity for families and children who need municipal assistance.
Therefore, the municipality of West Maas en Waal has created new policy rules. From February 13, 2026, applications for Broad Support will be processed according to these new policy rules.
