Assistance for the elderly, sick, and people with disabilities (Wmo)
What is it?
If you are unable to do everything yourself due to illness, disability, or old age, the municipality can help you. The municipality will work with you to find a solution. Sometimes this means that you try to change something in your situation yourself. In other cases, the municipality will provide you with specific assistance.
The assistance is aimed at enabling you to continue doing as much as possible yourself. This includes:
- do your own housework
- moving around your home
- travel around your area using a means of transportation
- use your home as normal
- meet other people
How does it work?
The assistance provided by the municipality depends on your situation, the problems you are experiencing, and what you consider to be the best solution. First, a VraagWijzer consultant will discuss with you whether you can solve your problem (partly) yourself. This could be with the help of family, friends, and acquaintances, for example. It will also be investigated whether a general service (e.g., a shopping service, handyman service, etc.) is sufficient for you. If this is not possible or insufficient, a customized service can be provided. This could be, for example:
- domestic help
- a wheelchair or an adaptation thereto
- a mobility scooter or an adaptation to your car
- a transport pass for the regional taxi (shared transport)
- aids or modifications to your home
- guidance
- care
- sheltered housing.
The provision can be delivered in the form of care in kind. This means that a provider with whom the municipality has a contract delivers the provision.
You can also choose to arrange the service yourself. In that case, you will receive a sum of money (called a personal budget). In the case of domestic help, for example, this budget is managed by the SVB.
Depending on the benefit, you may be required to pay a personal contribution. The CAK ( ) determines the amount of this personal contribution based on your income and assets and any other benefits you receive.
What should I do?
- Please contact VraagWijzer by calling 0487 790 790.
You can also send an email to info@vraagwijzerwmw.nl. - You report your problem.
- A VraagWijzer consultant will make an appointment with you for a meeting at your home. During this meeting, your problem will be discussed in more detail and a possible solution will be sought together with you.
- You will receive a report (personal support plan) which you sign, add any comments, and return to VraagWijzer.
- This means you have immediately submitted a request if the report states that the solution must be provided by the municipality (or if you have indicated that you disagree with the solution proposed in the report and believe that the municipality should provide a solution to your problem).
How long will it take?
After you have registered with VraagWijzer, your report will be processed as soon as possible. There are currently waiting times. You will have to wait longer than usual. After receiving the report, which includes the application for a municipal solution, you will be notified as soon as possible whether you are eligible for this.
