Help the farmland birds in West Maas en Waal with a free partridge hedge or herb border!

This is an old post.

Have you ever seen a partridge? Or heard the song of a skylark? We’re seeing the red of the linnet less and less often. These farmland birds are still around, but they’re struggling. The disappearance of small landscape features and the lack of winter food play a major role in this. But you can easily give these birds a helping hand!

Enhancing the habitat of farmland birds

Together with IVN and the municipality of West Maas en Waal, Stichting Landschapsbeheer Gelderland (SLG) aims to strengthen the habitat of partridges. To achieve this, we also want to plant partridge hedges and sow herb borders on a small scale on private plots in the rural area. The size, layout, or location of your plot does not matter. A partridge hedge is also a good alternative to fencing.

If you have a piece of land available and would like to set it up (or have it set up) for partridges, please contact! After you sign up, an SLG advisor will contact you to discuss the options on your property.

We offer free advice on the installation. The plants or seeds for a herb border are also free.

This project is made possible thanks to the municipality of West Maas en Waal and the Province of Gelderland.
