Combating slippery conditions

What is it?

The municipality must combat slippery conditions on roads within built-up areas. The municipality spreads grit when roads become slippery due to freezing, snow, or black ice.

  • First, the municipality spreads salt on main routes, such as bus routes, main roads, and access roads to neighborhoods.
  • After that, it is spread on roads leading to general practitioners and nursing homes, as well as streets near shopping centers and in residential areas.

Spreading routes

When there is frost on the ground, roads can become treacherously slippery. The municipality has designated routes in the municipality that are gritted preventively (i.e., before they become slippery). This gritting is done with wet salt.

Salt in yellow containers

Dry salt is used to grit surfaces that are already slippery, such as sidewalks. The municipality does not sweep or grit these surfaces when they are slippery. Yellow bins containing dry salt have been placed at locations such as senior citizens' homes for this purpose. If you find an empty bin, please report this to us at .
