Exhibition by Lia Steenbergen-Baas

This is an old post.

From September 29, 2025, through the end of December 2025, Lia Steenbergen-Baas will be exhibiting her photographic works at the town hall in Beneden-Leeuwen.

In 1976, Lia received a Kodak Instamatic camera for her 13th birthday and began taking vacation photos. She found herself wanting more, and in 1982 she purchased an analog camera with far more capabilities. From that point on, she began to specialize. Animals were her preference, but she also enjoyed nature and landscapes. In late 2003, she bought a digital camera and started paying closer attention to details.

A few years ago, she had a performance review with a former team leader and invited him to her home. There were photo albums laid out in the living room. He was very impressed and said she should show her photography to many more people. At the time, that seemed like a distant possibility, but it did give her the push she needed.

Over the years, she has taken many courses and workshops. In March 2022, Lia joined the Passewaaij Photo Club, which was in the process of being established.

When she turned 60, the idea arose to mark the occasion with her first exhibition at the Synagogue Art Gallery in Buren, titled “Photography as a Common Thread …”

In 2024, she exhibited at the Vrijthof Nursing Home in Tiel with “Animals in the Spotlight.”
And recently, she exhibited alongside two other artists at St. Lambert’s Church in Kerk-Avezaath with “Take a Closer Look.” An exhibition is also planned for 2026 in Millingen.

The photo exhibition at City Hall features a mix of close-up and wildlife photos.

You are most welcome
