What is it?

An event is a "publicly accessible entertainment activity." The important thing is whether the activity is private. This means that if the event takes place at your own location and is for your own people, no permit is required. The fact that you have to buy tickets or pay an entrance fee does not make something private.

A weekly market, bingo night, lottery, regular sports competition, theater performance, or street artist performance is not an event.

Would you like to organize an event? Sometimes, all you need to do is submit a notification. In other cases, you will need an event permit.

Events policy

The Events Policy 2024-2028 describes which laws and regulations apply, which policy rules apply, and how the permit process works. It also provides practical guidance on how to ensure that an event (and its organization) runs as smoothly as possible.

Permit or notification?

Below you will find the conditions for notification. If you meet all the conditions, then notification of the event will suffice. If this is not the case, then you must apply for a permit.

  • The number of attendees shall not exceed 250 persons at any one time;
  • The event takes place between 10:00 a.m. and midnight (Friday and Saturday until 1:00 a.m.);
  • No music will be played before 10:00 a.m. and/or after midnight;
  • The noise level at a distance of 2 meters and at a height of 1.5 meters from the facade of the homes is less than 70 dB(A) and 80 dB(C).
  • The event does not obstruct traffic or emergency services;
  • Only small objects with a surface area of less than 25 m² per object are placed;
  • No alcoholic beverages are sold;
  • There is an organizer.

If your event meets all of the above conditions, you do not need to apply for a permit as the organizer, but you must submit a written notification at least 15 working days prior to the event. There is no charge for submitting a notification.

What should I do?

Would you like to apply for an event permit? You can do so using the event permit application form (PDF 516.5 kB). Please send this to the municipality's postal address or email it to info@westmaasenwaal.nl.

Costs

Currently, all event permits are free of charge. This means that applying for an event permit is free of charge.

Emergency or safety plan and floor plan

If your event is not eligible for notification but does require a permit, you will see in the application form that an emergency or safety plan and floor plan must also be submitted. The Gelderland Zuid Safety Region has provided a template for this purpose. You can download this sample emergency plan (PDF 499 kB). The requirements for the map format (PDF 486 kB) can be downloaded.

Report an event

You can submit a report digitally. To do so, you must log in with DigiD or eHerkenning.
