Cornerstone Laid for Expansion of the Beneden-Leeuwen Child Care Center

Construction on the expansion of Beneden-Leeuwen Child Care Center began this spring. Alderman Reuvers laid the cornerstone together with students. Many students, teachers, construction workers, and other stakeholders were present for the occasion.

Growth requires expansion

The number of children in and around Beneden-Leeuwen for years. This is mainly due to the construction of new homes. As a result, the schools ran out of space. Beneden-Leeuwen Child Center also quickly Beneden-Leeuwen capacity. That is why the municipality decided to expand the child center with a new addition to the school building.

Festive Groundbreaking Ceremony

Alderman Reuvers, together with students, kicked off the construction. During the gathering, three classes were each given a key to the new addition. Together, they placed the keys in a small box in the wall. The keys will remain there until the opening. One of the keys is real. Which one it is remains a secret for now.

Alderman Reuvers: “It’s wonderful to see how we’re working together here to build a future for our children. With this expansion, we’re ensuring there’s enough high-quality educational space for the growing number of students in Beneden-Leeuwen.”

Opening in spring 2027

The new addition is expected to open in May 2027. That’s when we’ll find out which class has the real key. That class will be allowed to open the door to the new building.
