First steps toward the Maasbommel expansion: preparations have begun

This is an old post.

Last week, the municipality of West Maas en Waal and the initiator House2Start took a significant step towards a promising expansion of Maasbommel. By signing a letter of intent, both parties expressed their commitment to further investigate how the realization of approximately 100 new homes can be made possible.

Involving residents

On the evening of Thursday, December 11, the first community engagement meeting was held at the Hanzehuys. Local residents had the opportunity to share their ideas and concerns.

In the coming period, House2Start will be organizing several meetings to involve residents and other stakeholders in the process. Their input will help shape the design further and ensure it fits in well with the surrounding area. At the same time, studies are being conducted to further develop the plan.

An opportunity for a future-proof Maasbommel

Alderman Van den Boom is enthusiastic: “This is a wonderful opportunity for Maasbommel. We want to create a future-proof village where there is room for young families, first-time homebuyers, and seniors. This letter of intent marks the start of a careful process in which resident involvement and quality are central.”

The goal is to make the draft plan available for public review in the fall of 2026. Until then, the focus will be on gathering ideas and carefully developing the plan through House2Start.
