Didier Oosterom Officially Appointed Municipal Secretary of West Maas en Waal After Interim Period

Didier Oosterom will be the new municipal secretary of the municipality of West Maas en Waal from July 1, 2026. He had already been interim municipal secretary since March 4, 2024. The College of Mayor and Aldermen has now permanently appointed Didier Oosterom as municipal secretary / general director.

Elected unanimously

The decision was made after an extensive recruitment and selection procedure, supervised by an external recruitment agency. The selection committee unanimously chose Didier Oosterom. According to Mayor Vincent van Neerbos, Didier possesses strategic insight, administrative sensitivity, and an eye for collaboration. “As a college, we are pleased that he is staying in West Maas en Waal. We are confident that Didier is the right person to further develop the civil service organization. Furthermore, he ensures a strong connection between governance, society, and the organization.”

Great attitude

Didier Oosterom is grateful for the trust that the board and staff of the organization have placed in him.

“I’ve been working in this municipality for two years now, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. Together, we face major challenges. In recent years, we’ve set a solid course that I’d like to continue. I’ve noticed that both residents and colleagues are deeply committed and know how to get things done. It’s a wonderful attitude to work with. I look forward to continuing to build a future-proof municipality together with residents, the organization, the administration, and political leaders.”

As municipal secretary, he serves as the chief advisor to the mayor and aldermen. In addition, as general director, he oversees the municipal administration. The municipal secretary acts as the link between the administration and the organization.
