Construction Day at Meanderende Maas: A Peek Behind the Construction Fences

On Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Meanderende Maas project will open its construction fences to visitors during the national Construction Day. At the project office in Megen and along the Diedensche Uiterdijk, visitors of all ages can get a behind-the-scenes look at the dike reinforcement, river widening, and area development along the Meuse. Visitors will discover how work is being done to create a safe dyke a future-proof landscape.

There is an information fair on the technology behind building a safe dyke, the archaeology of the area, the natural environment along the Meuse River, and how to move from design to implementation. And there’s plenty of room for hands-on experiences and activities. 
Children candyke their owndyke using toy excavators, test clay to see if it’s strong enough for dyke use a metal detector to search for hidden coins.
You can also get a close-up look at large machines, and there’s a scavenger hunt to learn even more about the project.
With a mini food festival, a bouncy castle, and activities for the whole family, it promises to be a fun and educational day.
