Construction Day at the Uiterwaarden Wamel, Dreumel Heerewaarden Project

Saturday, June 20, is Open House at the Uiterwaarden Wamel, Dreumel Heerewaarden project in Heerewaarden as part of the national Construction Day. You are cordially invited!

Location and Time

Between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., interested visitors are welcome at two locations:

  • The De Grote Rivieren Visitor Center, located at Langestraat 38 in Heerewaarden, is hosting an exhibition about this project, which aims to improve the habitat of plants and animals in various ways;
  • At the construction site on Molendijk in Heerewaarden. Hop on the covered wagon and ride along past the excavation work for the secondary channel.

Parking

Visitors are welcome to come to the sites by bike or on foot. Those arriving by car can park across from the Visitor Center. From there, a covered wagon departs approximately every hour to take visitors to the construction site. Parking along the Molendijk is not permitted.

Bring your family along!

Curious about how a project like this is carried out and what’s involved? Then come take a look on June 20! Kids can play in the sand with buckets and shovels, get a close-up look at an excavator and a dump truck, color a picture, and enter the contest for a great prize. Pick up a field guide at the Visitor Center and see which animal and plant species you can spot in the floodplains.
