Container gardens

We are committed to making our neighborhood clean and green. We look forward to working with our residents to achieve this.
We have therefore started creating small gardens around a number of underground waste containers. Every village has been given at least one container garden. These container gardens are maintained by enthusiastic volunteers, whom we call the gardens’ adopters.
We are currently looking for an adopter for Frans Halsemaplein in Dreumel.
Container gardens make it more fun
Container gardens help reduce litter around trash bins. They also add greenery to the street and boost biodiversity. This means they attract more bees, butterflies, and other insects. And of course, container gardens just look so much nicer!
Omroep Gelderland made a short video of the little garden in Dreumel.
Requirements adoptive parents
- Ideally, you should live or work near the container site. This makes watering, in particular, a lot easier.
- It is possible for a group of people to adopt a container garden. However, it is important to establish clear guidelines to ensure that the garden is always well maintained.
- If, as an adopter, you are unable to maintain the garden for an extended period (for example, due to illness or vacation), you will need to find a temporary replacement yourself.
- You are willing to maintain a container garden for an extended period of time. Frequent changes in the people caring for the garden increase the risk that the plants will not be properly maintained.
