Committee debate Progress on the granulite dossier

This is an old message.

On April 7, the agenda item "Progress on granulite: addendum 'Review - Investigation into Granulite in the Meuse' and Council of State ruling" will be discussed in the House of Representatives' Living Environment Committee debate. The municipality of West Maas en Waal is dissatisfied with the communication prior to this debate. It has therefore sent a letter to the State Secretary requesting that the debate be postponed.

Not informed

Following the ruling by the Council of State on the granulite in Over de Maas, the national government and the municipality agreed to keep each other informed as administrative bodies. The municipality was therefore surprised to learn from the Dreumelse Waard Citizens' Collective that the dossier was being discussed in the committee.
Alderman Ans Mol is the portfolio holder for the municipality of West Maas en Waal on this dossier: "This makes it difficult for me to respond properly to questions from our municipal council and residents. In my opinion, this is completely at odds with the agreements made with the State Secretary regarding the mutual exchange of information."

Review of Arcadis research

The debate concerns a memo from Arcadis, an addendum to the consultancy firm's report. The municipality was not informed about this either. Ans Mol: "If they had involved us in discussions about the content or conclusions of this memo, for example, we could have formed our own opinion. We were previously involved in the main report through a sounding board group. Why not now?"
The municipality was unable to study the documents thoroughly and in a timely manner. It therefore asked the State Secretary to wait for the results from Deltares and RIVM.
