Parking a caravan on public roads

What is it?

If you want to park your caravan, camper van, motorhome, trailer, or folding trailer on public roads, you are usually only allowed to do so for 3 days.

If you want to park for longer, apply for an exemption from the municipality.

How does it work?

You will receive the exemption under the following conditions:

  • You are not taking up too much parking space.
  • It doesn't make the streets look any worse.
  • The municipality will assign you a parking space.
  • It does not cause any nuisance or danger to road users or people living in the neighborhood.

What should I do?

You can apply for the exemption at the municipality. Include the following information with your application:

  • your name and address
  • the period during which you wish to park
  • why you want to park your caravan, camper van, motorhome, trailer, or folding trailer on public roads
  • a description or image of your vehicle

How long will it take?

You will receive notification within 8 weeks as to whether you will be granted the exemption.

Lodge an objection

Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? If so, you can lodge an objection within six weeks.
