How do I apply for a moped license?
Did you pass your driving test? If so, you can apply for a moped license. You must apply for a moped license in person at the city hall. You can pick up your license after about a week.
Urgent Request
If you need your moped license quickly, you can submit an expedited application. If you apply for the license before 2:00 p.m., you can pick it up the next business day. However, this does cost extra.
The cost of a moped license is:

Do you need to apply for a moped license urgently? In that case, you will be charged an additional fee of€39.65
How does it work?
You need a moped license to ride a:
- moped
- scooter
- moped
- light vehicle
- quad
- trike and
- speed pedelec (a bicycle with electric pedal assistance capable of reaching speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour)
What should I do?
You can take the theory exam for a moped license starting at age 15.5. Starting at age 16, you may take driving lessons and take the practical exam.
No driving lessons or driving test required
If you have a car driver's license (Class B) or a motorcycle driver's license (Class A), the moped driver's license (Class AM) will be automatically added to your license.
Lost or stolen moped license
Have you lost your driver's license, or has it been stolen?

Don’t have a DigiD? Then report the loss to your local municipality. - Next, apply for a new driver’s license at the city office. Bring a color passport photo and a valid form of identification.
What do I need?
- A clear, recent passport photo taken no more than 6 months prior to the date of application. This passport photo meets the requirements listed at .
- Cash or a debit card. You pay immediately when you apply.
- When applying for your first moped license: a valid passport or a valid ID card.
- When renewing your moped license: the moped license you already have. If it is no longer valid, please also bring a valid passport or ID card.
Pick up your moped license
You must pick up your moped license in person at city hall. No Make an appointment necessary. Be sure to bring your old moped license with you, if you have one.
How long does it take?
- You can pick up your driver's license at city hall in about a week.
- If you submitted an urgent application before 2:00 p.m., you can pick up your driver's license as early as the next business day.
Additional information
Serious traffic violations committed while riding a moped also count toward the learner’s permit. For more information, visit the CBR website at .
If you have been deemed unfit to hold a Class A or B driver’s license for medical reasons, the AM category of the moped license will remain valid on your driver’s license.
