Soil testing
What is it?
A soil survey is sometimes necessary if you have plans to build or renovate. Soil surveys are also increasingly requested when buying or selling a home, commercial property, or a plot of land. A soil survey reflects the current condition of the soil.
Do you own a business or are you planning to start one? And do you need an environmental permit (formerly known as an environmental license) for that? If so, you will often also need to have a soil survey conducted.
Soil testing may also be necessary in the following cases:
- You use construction materials, soil, or dredged material (not for private individuals)
- The zoning plan is changing.
If the soil is unsuitable for purposes such as building a home, additional soil testing and, in some cases, soil remediation will be necessary. For more information, see the Soil Remediation product page.
How does it work?
You cannot simply conduct soil testing if the land does not belong to you. You must always obtain permission from the owner. If the land belongs to the municipality, you must ask the municipality for permission.
What should I do?
Approach
What you need to bring or submit depends on the environmental permit. It depends on whether it was issued solely for environmental purposes or also for construction. For more information, visit the Omgevingsloket Online (OLO) website at .
Term
The municipality will make a decision within 8 weeks of receiving your application. This period may be extended once.
Objections and Appeals
