Contribution to Early Childhood Education
What is it?
The toddler program provides a safe environment where your child has plenty of space to play. Your child will meet peers and explore a variety of play and developmental materials. This helps prepare your child for elementary school.
If your toddler is experiencing developmental delays, the Early Childhood Education (VVE) program can provide them with extra support. Your toddler will then attend the childcare center for additional half-days. Participation in this VVE program is completely free.
To participate in the VVE program, your child must attend the first two half-days of toddler care. West Maas en Waal aims to offer all toddlers equal development opportunities. Therefore, it is possible to be eligible for a reimbursement of the personal contribution for the first two half-days of toddler care.
What are the requirements?
The allowance is provided exclusively to the applicant for children aged 2 to 4. The allowance covers the cost of the personal contribution for the first and second half-days of toddler daycare attendance when participating in a program for early childhood education (VVE). You must have an income of up to 120% of the social assistance standard, little or no personal assets, and children who belong to the target group. You may also submit an application if, at the time of application, you have an (ongoing) debt settlement plan based on the Municipal Debt Assistance Act or the Debt Restructuring for Natural Persons Act. Additionally, a resident to whom the municipal debt counselor has assigned financial or budget management is considered eligible.
What am I entitled to?
The amount of the contribution is limited to the difference between the hourly rate charged by the preschool care provider and either the child care allowance granted by the Tax and Customs Administration or the contribution toward preschool care costs provided by the municipality.
The right to a contribution begins on the first day of enrollment (but not before the day on which the child for whom the application is submitted reaches the age of 2) and ends on the last day of enrollment, but no later than the day on which the child reaches the age of 4.
The reimbursement must be used for the purpose for which it was received. You must be able to demonstrate, using receipts or proof of payment, that the reimbursement received was used for the purpose for which it was received. You may not request reimbursement for a calendar year that has already passed.
How does it work?
You can apply for the preschool childcare subsidy if you:
- has an income of up to 120% of the welfare standard, and
- have little or no income, and
- has children aged 2 to 4 who are participating in the early childhood education program
When submitting your application, you must provide proof of enrollment or participation in both the toddler care program (for 2 half-days) and a preschool and early childhood education program (for 2 half-days).
