Visitors to Wiellawaai/Dag van Leeuwen experience the dangers of nitrous oxide in traffic
The BOB campaign team will be at Wiellawaai/Dag van Leeuwen on Sunday, July 5. The team will be raising awareness about the consequences of alcohol and drug use while driving. Visitors can use 3D glasses to experience what driving under the influence of nitrous oxide feels like.
Everyone knows that alcohol and driving don't mix. Yet many people underestimate the risks. After drinking 4 to 5 glasses of alcohol, the risk of an accident is four times higher than when you're sober.
Nitrous oxide and driving don’t mix either. Nitrous oxide can continue to affect you long after use. You may experience dizziness, headaches, or even fainting. Your concentration may also be impaired. Sometimes these effects last for several hours. This can lead to dangerous situations on the road. That’s why the BOB campaign team is raising awareness about this issue.
Experience it for yourself with 3D glasses
Nitrous oxide has been in the news a lot in recent years. Using nitrous oxide while driving can lead to accidents. That’s why the campaign team is letting visitors experience the risks for themselves.
Wearing 3D glasses, participants step into a virtual world. There, they discover how nitrous oxide affects their perception. This allows young people, in particular, to safely experience the potential consequences of driving under the influence of nitrous oxide.
Campaign Remains Necessary
The Province of Gelderland will continue its efforts to prevent drunk driving in the coming years. As the sponsor of the BOB campaign, the province is doing so through various activities and a public awareness campaign.
