What is it?
Some foreign visitors need a visa to visit the Netherlands. In some cases, a letter of sponsorship is required to obtain this visa.
In the letter of sponsorship and/or accommodation, you explain why you invited the person. For example, for a vacation. This helps them obtain the visa.
What should I do?
Visit the Nederland Wereldwijd website at to see which nationalities require a visa.
You must fill out a form and have your signature notarized at the city hall. If you are married or in a registered partnership, both of you must be present at the city hall and sign the form there.
What do I need?
- Completed guarantee form. Download it from Nederland Wereldwijd
- proof of identity
Please note:
Don’t sign the form yet! Because your signature must be notarized, you may only sign it in the presence of a municipal official.
How long does it take?
The municipality will certify your signature immediately. You will then receive the form back right away.
