Support/day activities (Wmo)
What is it?
Support is not about taking over tasks, but about assisting with these tasks. It involves helping the client to carry out general daily activities themselves. There are two types of support:
- individual guidance
- group counseling
Individual guidance
Individual guidance may consist of, for example:
- Providing support in establishing (daily) structure and taking control.
- Help with planning, promoting, and preparing activities such as:
- Determining the daily routine
- Social contacts and social environment
- Gaining insight into the possible consequences of decisions
- Preparing for conversations about housing, education, work, income, buying/paying for something
- Help with performing skills learned during treatment
Group counseling (day activities)
Day care offers activities and focuses on:
- activation
- movement
- learning to cope with dementia
- contacts
- a meaningful way to spend the day
- prevention of loneliness
- taking over supervision and providing rhythm and regularity
- relief and support by lightening the load on the caregiver
Group counseling involves a different kind of daily structure than work or school. This increases self-reliance and can prevent (crisis) admission.
The municipality may charge a contribution towards the costs of providing guidance.
What should I do?

- You report your problem.
- A VraagWijzer consultant will make an appointment with you for a meeting at your home. During this meeting, your problem will be discussed in more detail and a possible solution will be sought together with you.
- You will receive a report (personal support plan) which you sign, add any comments, and return to VraagWijzer.
- This means you have immediately submitted a request if the report states that the solution must be provided by the municipality (or if you have indicated that you disagree with the solution proposed in the report and believe that the municipality should provide a solution to your problem).
How long will it take?
After you have registered with VraagWijzer, your report will be processed as soon as possible. There are currently waiting times. You will have to wait longer than usual. After receiving the report, which includes the application for a municipal solution, you will be notified as soon as possible whether you are eligible for this.
