Support/Day Programs (Wmo)
What is it?
Support is not about taking over tasks, but about assisting with them. It involves helping the client perform general daily activities on their own. There are two types of support:
- individual guidance
- group counseling
Individual guidance
Individual guidance may, for example, include:
- Providing support in establishing a daily routine and taking the lead.
- Help with planning, promoting, and preparing activities such as:
- Establishing a daily routine
- Social contacts and social environment
- Gaining insight into the potential consequences of decisions
- Preparing for conversations about housing, education, work, income, and buying or paying for things
- Assistance in applying skills learned during treatment
Group Support (Day Program)
Day programs offer activities and are designed to:
- activation
- movement
- learning to cope with dementia
- contacts
- a meaningful way to spend the day
- preventing social isolation
- taking over supervision and providing structure and consistency
- relief and support for the caregiver
Group counseling involves a different kind of daily routine than work or school. This helps increase self-reliance and can prevent (emergency) hospitalization.
The municipality may charge a fee for providing support services.
