Primary school children on the move – now older people too, thanks to Max Vitaal

This is an old message.

Exercise is important and healthy for young and old alike. That is why Alderman Rob Reuvers of the municipality of West Maas en Waal presented the first copy of the Max Vitaal booklet to Iny van Koolwijk. Iny has been committed to sports and exercise activities in the region since she was 18. She still organizes activities for various senior citizens' associations. It is no coincidence that she is mentioned several times in the Max Vitaal booklet!

160 activities for people aged 55 and over

This year, the Max Vitaal booklet offers no fewer than 160 different activities for adults aged 55 and over. The booklet helps them easily find a suitable activity and clearly explains how they can sign up. Starting today, the booklet is available free of charge at all village halls, multifunctional accommodations, and libraries in the municipalities of Druten and West Maas en Waal.

Children also get involved with Sjors Sportief & Creatief

It is not only older people who are encouraged to get active. On February 12, 2025, Sjors Sportief & Creatief launched a special activity booklet for young people in Druten and West Maas en Waal. This booklet invites primary school children to discover and try out new sporting and cultural activities. Pupils can register directly for one or more activities via meedoeninmaasenwaal.nl
Providers of sports and cultural initiatives can also register here. The booklet has proven to be a great success: in the first two weeks, 348 children have already registered for sports activities and 83 for cultural workshops.

Working together for a healthy future

With these initiatives, the municipalities are building a healthy, active, and engaged society. From young to old, everyone has the opportunity to discover new activities, have fun, and stay active!
