Certificate of Life (international proof of being alive)
What is a certificate of good conduct?
A certificate of life is an international document certifying that you are alive. You must apply for the certificate of life in person at the municipal office.
If you need proof of life in the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, or Saba, do not request a certificate of life, but rather proof of life.
How does it work?
You will need a certificate of life, for example, if your foreign life insurance company or pension fund requests one. The certificate of life is available in Dutch and French. The document is valid for 6 months.
What do I need?
- A valid form of identification.
- If you are requesting a certificate of employment for a pension fund, please also bring the letter from the pension fund requesting this.
How long does it take?
You will receive the document right away.
