Temporary alcohol service, exemption
What is it?
It is prohibited to sell alcoholic beverages outside your restaurant or bar. You can apply for a special permit for special events, such as King’s Day. With a special permit, you are authorized to sell alcohol on a temporary basis.
You can obtain an exemption for up to 12 consecutive days.
How does it work?
You can only obtain a license to sell low-alcohol beverages, such as beer and wine.
Low-alcohol beverages may only be served under the supervision of a person:
- who is at least 21 years old
- who does not have a history of misconduct (for example, you have not served a prison sentence in the past 5 years or received a psychiatric sentence for a crime)
- who holds a certificate in occupational health and safety
What should I bring?
You will need:
- a statement indicating where, when, and at what time you intend to serve alcohol on a temporary basis
- the identification of the individuals involved in serving alcohol
- the name, date, place, and home address of the individuals
How long does it take?
Term
The municipality will make a decision within 8 weeks of receiving your application. This period may be extended once.
Objections and Appeals
You may file an objection to the decision regarding your application. You must do so within 6 weeks. If you disagree with the decision on your objection, you may file an appeal with the court.
