Support for children who cannot go on vacation

This is an old post.

The Buurtgezinnen Foundation has drawn special attention to children who cannot go on holiday. Mayor Vincent van Neerbos of West Maas en Waal received a unique artwork: a nature mandala, created by children and parents in the Druten Heemtuin. The artwork symbolizes a special project: holiday activities for children who stay at home.

Summer Vacation Fun

During the summer vacation, the children enjoyed fun activities such as reading stories, going on scavenger hunts, making soup with vegetables from the garden, and creating a nature mandala. This mandala, created under the guidance of botanical artist Cora van Ingen, symbolizes connection and togetherness.

Mayor Vincent van Neerbos is enthusiastic about the project: "This initiative is a wonderful example of how we, as a community, can work together to give children a wonderful vacation, even when a real vacation isn't possible. This artwork reminds us that every child deserves to be seen and feels like they belong."

Collaboration to Support Families

The Buurtgezinnen Foundation helps families who need extra support. They collaborate with the Rivierenland Library and other organizations, such as Sociom, MeerVoormekaar, and IVN Nature Education. Together, they organize creative and community-building activities that give children and parents the opportunity to learn and have fun together.

Exhibition in the region

The nature mandalas will soon be on display at the town halls in Beneden-Leeuwen Druten, as well as at both libraries and the Jumbo supermarket. "With this exhibition, we want to show that these children matter," says Nathalie de Jonge of the Buurtgezinnen Foundation.
