Environmental Vision for West Maas and Waal
The West Maas en Waal Environmental Vision sets out our long-term ambitions for the environment in which we live, work, meet, and relax. The input of residents, entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, and council members was taken into account in the process of developing this forward-looking vision.
On May 30, 2024, the municipal council adopted the West Maas en Waal Environmental Vision.
What does the environmental vision say?
This vision sets out what we want to achieve in our municipality in the long term and how we intend to do so. It concerns policy choices in broad terms. When new spatial plans and developments arise, the municipality assesses these plans against the environmental vision.
When will the environmental vision come into effect?
The West Maas en Waal Environmental Vision will take effect the day after its announcement. No objections or appeals may be lodged against the municipal council's decision to adopt the environmental vision.
Where is infill or expansion taking place?
- Inbreidingsverzoeken voor kleinschalige woningbouwinitiatieven (<10 woningen) zijn alleen mogelijk binnen de plangrens van het bestemmingsplan Dorpen of de verkeerskundige bebouwde kom, mits de beoogde locatie voldoet aan het uitgangspunt evenwichtige toedeling van functies aan locaties;
- Infill development requests for large-scale housing initiatives are only possible within the designated infill locations in the environmental vision. If there are no or insufficient opportunities for infill development, larger housing initiatives are also possible within the expansion directions of the villages as included in the environmental vision, provided that the intended location complies with the principle of balanced allocation of functions to locations.
- We do not permit VAB homes to be built after the demolition of all former agricultural buildings in the town center, but we do permit them on the riverbank, provided that the intended location complies with the principle of balanced allocation of functions to locations.
By balanced allocation of functions to locations (ETFAL), we mean that there is a balance between the different functions that locations within an area can fulfill.
Where can the environmental vision be viewed?
