Participation Program for Ages 18 and Up

What is it?

The Municipality of West Maas en Waal promotes that

  • single people
  • families without children
  • families with children over the age of 18

be able to participate in educational, healthy, or fun activities.

Even if you have less to spend. That’s what the Adult Social Participation Program is for.

The social participation scheme covers, among other things, the costs of membership in a social, sports, cultural, or educational organization. Other examples include: library membership and use, theater tickets or a museum pass, subscriptions to magazines and/or daily and weekly newspapers, visits to amusement parks or zoos, course fees for non-vocational skills (no correspondence courses); public transportation costs for participating in an activity, etc.

What are the requirements?

The allowance is exclusively provided to applicants aged 18 and over. You must also be registered in the Personal Records Database of the Municipality of West Maas en Waal. Additionally, your income must be up to 120% of the social assistance norm, and you must have no or limited assets. You can also submit an application if, at the time of application, you have an existing debt arrangement based on the Municipal Debt Assistance Act or the Natural Persons Debt Rescheduling Act. Furthermore, residents to whom financial or budget management has been granted by the municipal debt counselor are considered eligible.

What am I entitled to?

The maximum contribution is €125 per person per calendar year. The amount of reimbursement to which you are entitled depends on the length of your residency. The amount is based on the number of full months in a calendar year.

You must use the grant for the purpose for which it was received, and the funds must be spent during the calendar year in which the application was submitted. Upon request, you must be able to provide proof of how the grant was spent—such as receipts, invoices, or similar documents—or provide a plausible explanation. You may not apply for reimbursement for a calendar year that has already passed.

How does it work?

If your (combined) family income is up to 120% of the social assistance standards and you have little or no personal assets, you can apply for the Adult Social Participation Program. Werkzaak Rivierenland administers this program on our behalf.

Please note: If you have children under the age of 18, you can also use the "Participation for Children Aged 0 to 18" section for those children.
