Participation scheme from the age of 18

What is it?

The municipality of West Maas en Waal encourages this. 

  • single persons
  • families without children
  • families with children over the age of 18 

be able to participate in educational, healthy, or fun activities. 

Even if you have less to spend. That's what the Adult Social Participation Scheme is for. 

The social participation scheme covers, among other things, the costs of membership of a social, sporting, cultural, or educational association. Other examples include: membership and use of the library, theater visits or museum year card, subscription to a magazine and/or daily and weekly newspapers, visits to amusement parks, zoos, course fees for non-vocational skills (no written courses); public transport costs for participating in an activity, etc.

What requirements must I meet?

The allowance is only granted to applicants aged 18 and over. You must also be registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database of the municipality of West Maas en Waal. In addition, your income must be less than 120% of the social assistance standard and you must have little or no capital. You can also submit an application if, at the time of application, you have a (current) debt settlement arrangement based on the Municipal Debt Assistance Act or the Debt Rescheduling (Natural Persons) Act. Residents who have been granted financial or budget management assistance by the municipal debt counselor are also considered eligible.

What am I entitled to?

The maximum contribution is €125 per person per calendar year. The amount of reimbursement to which you are entitled depends on the length of your residence. The amount is based on the number of full months per calendar year.

The contribution must be spent by you for the purpose for which it was received, and the expenditure must take place in the calendar year in which the application was submitted. Upon request, you must be able to demonstrate the expenditure of the allocated compensation by means of receipts, invoices, etc., or be able to substantiate it. No further compensation can be requested for a calendar year that has already passed.

How does it work?

If your (combined) family income is up to 120% of the social assistance standards and you have little or no capital, you can apply for the Adult Social Participation Scheme. Werkzaak Rivierenland implements this scheme on our behalf.

Please note: If you have children under the age of 18, you can also make use of the Participation 0 to 18 years section for children under the age of 18.
