Participation scheme up to the age of 17
What is it?
The municipality of West Maas en Waal encourages children to participate in educational, healthy, or fun activities, even if you have less to spend. We also want to promote children's participation in sports and recreational activities. However, playing sports and participating in activities is not cheap. Under certain conditions, you may be eligible for a subsidy to cover the costs for your child(ren).
What requirements must I meet?
The allowance is only granted to parents/guardians for children up to the age of 18. You must be a resident of our municipality. In addition, your income must be up to 120% of the social assistance standard and you must have little or no capital. You can also submit an application if, at the time of application, you have a (current) debt settlement arrangement based on the Municipal Debt Assistance Act or the Debt Rescheduling (Natural Persons) Act. Residents who have been granted financial or budget management assistance by the municipal debt counselor are also considered eligible.
What is it for?
For children aged 0 to 18, this concerns the costs of:
A. Social participation of young people: costs related to social participation are in any case deemed to include costs related to school (e.g., parent association, costs of participation in (extracurricular) school activities), necessary needs such as clothing and transportation costs (also for participation in activities), a bicycle (or its maintenance), holiday and children's activities throughout the year, membership of an association that focuses on social, cultural, or educational activities (such as music or theater associations and the costs of related supplies/attributes), and
B. sports and exercise: the following are in any case deemed to be included
- membership of an association or club that focuses on sports and/or exercise activities;
- costs of equipment, clothing, and footwear that enable participation in sports and/or recreational activities (whether or not organized by an association or club);
- costs associated with participating in sports or exercise activities;
- costs of sports or exercise activities that are not practiced in a club setting, etc.
What am I entitled to?
If you meet the conditions, you are entitled to a contribution of up to €525 per child per calendar year, which consists of:
A. An amount of up to €175 for the costs of social participation (see A above) and
B. An amount of up to €350 for the costs of sports and exercise (as described under B above).
The amount of compensation to which a person is entitled depends on the length of time that the person for whom the compensation is being requested has been a resident. The amount is based on the number of full months per calendar year.
The contributions referred to under A and B above must be spent on the child for whom they were requested, for the purpose for which they were received, and must be spent in the calendar year in which the application was submitted.
Upon request, you must be able to demonstrate how the allocated allowance was spent by means of receipts, invoices, etc., or be able to provide a plausible explanation.
It is not possible to submit an application for previous years.
Please note: If you do not have children or if they are older than 18, you may be eligible for the Adult Social Participation Scheme.
What should I do?
If you believe you meet the conditions, you can submit an application for Participation 0 to 18-year-olds. Werkzaak Rivierenland implements this scheme on our behalf.
