Renovation of Van der Capellenstraat, Appeltern

Van der Capellenstraat is in need of some repairs. An inspection of the sewer system has revealed that its condition is fair to poor. That is why we will be getting started on this very soon.

The main activities

  • replacement of the sewer system
  • Installing an additional storm drain
  • replacing the asphalt with paving stones
  • replacing a section of the sidewalks

The green spaces and trees will remain.
The layout of the street will remain virtually unchanged.

Disconnecting the rainwater system

We are installing a separate storm sewer system. This will help reduce flooding during heavy rain. You can help too! All you need to do is disconnect your downspout from the sewer system. This can only be done at the front of the house. There is no charge, and we will take care of it for you.

To disconnect your service, please submit a request. You can do this by filling out the request form. We will then contact you. Together, we will discuss whether disconnection is actually possible.

Do not construct a driveway with steep inclines.We will make this adjustment. The sidewalk and the ramp will be constructed seamlessly with a lowered curb.
Widen the driveway up to the light pole.
 		We are using the maximum width permitted by the permit. Width of the driveway to the property + 1.00 meter (minimum 3.50 meters/maximum 4.50 meters)
Do not replace asphalt with pavers.

We need to remove the asphalt in order to replace the sewer line. After that, we will lay pavers. Pavers are durable and easy to maintain.

The pavers are laid on a bed of sand in a specific pattern. This method of installation minimizes vibrations and keeps the road stable.

How will we stay connected? Won’t we end up isolated or out of reach?The contractor will proceed in phases. He will notify you of each phase by letter. If necessary, you can discuss your specific situation with this contractor.

Your home will always remain accessible on foot.
Can the last section of the sidewalk and the driveway be included in the renovation?We're updating this.
